Lightfoot’s plan for a partially elected school board introduced in state Senate as House passes bill calling for all seats to be chosen by voters

The Illinois House on Thursday approved a bill that would create a 21-member elected board to lead Chicago Public Schools, a change backed by community groups and the Chicago Teachers Union but staunchly opposed by Mayor Lori Lightfoot.
